Catalogue de l'exposition éponyme, qui s'est tenue au Domaine de Vizille - Musée de la Révolution française, du 28 juin au 10 novembre 2024. Il explore la manière dont la mode reflète les bouleversements sociaux et politiques de la Révolution française. Il examine comment le vêtement devient un marqueur social et politique, et comment, malgré la rupture révolutionnaire, la mode évolue continuellement, influencée par les idéaux de la période. Le vêtement devient un outil de prise de position politique, notamment à travers des symboles comme le bonnet, la cocarde, ou le choix des couleurs. Enfin, l'ouvrage s'intéresse à l'impact de 1794, avec la radicalisation des silhouettes et l'essor de l'industrie du luxe, donnant lieu à des transformations extrêmes de la mode, notamment avec l’apparition des Incroyables et des Merveilleuses.
Catalog of the eponymous exhibition, held at the Domaine de Vizille - Musée de la Révolution française, from June 28 to November 10, 2024. It explores how fashion reflected the social and political upheavals of the French Revolution. It examines how clothing becomes a social and political marker, and how, despite the revolutionary rupture, fashion continually evolves, influenced by the ideals of the period. Clothing became a tool for taking a political stand, notably through symbols such as the bonnet, the cockade and the choice of colors. Finally, the book looks at the impact of 1794, with the radicalization of silhouettes and the rise of the luxury industry, giving rise to extreme transformations in fashion, notably with the appearance of the Incroyables and the Merveilleuses. |
