Louvre Couture tisse un dialogue, pour la première fois, entre les collections du musée et les réalisations de la mode contemporaine. À l’instar de la peinture ou de la littérature, les objets d’art, de Byzance au XIXe siècle, sont de vibrantes sources d’inspiration. Quelquefois, la citation est littérale, parfois, les créatrices et les créateurs se sont eux-mêmes entourés de tant d'œuvres qu’ils ont fini par les intégrer jusqu’à en restituer l’esprit et le souffle. Au fil du temps, la mode a prouvé qu’elle était un sujet d’histoire de l’art en soi. Champ d’exploration et de savoir inépuisable, elle prend ici la pose au musée, le temps d’un somptueux défilé. Louvre Couture weaves a dialogue, for the first time, between the museum's collections and the achievements of contemporary fashion. Like painting and literature, art objects from Byzantium to the 19th century are vibrant sources of inspiration. Sometimes the quotation is literal, sometimes designers have surrounded themselves with so many works of art that they have ended up integrating them to the point of restoring their spirit and inspiration. Over time, fashion has proved to be an art-historical subject in its own right.
