Catalogue de l'exposition éponyme qui s'est tenue au Musée du Quai Branly, Paris, du 11 février au 6 juillet 2025. Il explore l'histoire millénaire de l'or dans les arts textiles, des premiers ornements en or aux fils métalliques modernes. Il met en lumière les techniques des artisans et tisserands qui ont sublimé ce métal précieux à travers les âges. Il dévoile la diversité des costumes ornés d’or, du Maghreb au Japon, à travers robes, caftans, kimonos et vêtements liturgiques. Enfin, il souligne la fascination intemporelle pour l’or, illustrée notamment par les créations somptueuses de Guo Pei.
Catalogue of the eponymous exhibition held at the Musée du Quai Branly, Paris, from 11 February to 6 July 2025. It explores the age-old history of gold in the textile arts, from the first gold ornaments to modern metallic threads. It highlights the techniques of the craftsmen and weavers who have sublimated this precious metal through the ages. It reveals the diversity of costumes adorned with gold, from the Maghreb to Japan, through dresses, caftans, kimonos and liturgical garments. Finally, it highlights the timeless fascination with gold, illustrated in particular by the sumptuous creations of Guo Pei. |
